The HSW Literary Agency

Season’s Readings

Of all the book-related holiday pursuits the HSW Literary Agency enjoys, the one we look forward to the most is the Advent Book Blog. Now in its third year, the blog offers book-lovers and those who shop for them, as we put it back in January, “An eclectic collection of passionate recommendations from those working in and around the publishing industry.” And with your holiday shopping days numbered, what better place to discover a great book that’s perfect for the reader on your list?

That some of this season’s suggested reading has come from HSWLA clients is just a bonus:

- Kim Moritsuguwhose most recent work is And Everything Nice (Raven Books/Orca Books 2011), helped to get things started on December 1st with her recommendation of the second of Robin Spano’s Clare Vengel mysteries, Death Plays Poker (ECW Press 2011);

- Allison Baggio, author of Girl in Shades and the forthcoming In The Body (ECW Press 2012), urged readers to take a second look at Emma Donoghue’s highly acclaimed Room (HarperCollins 2010); and

- Anna Leventhal, author of Sweet Affliction (currently on submission) and a limited-edition Paper Pusher chapbook, appealed to book- and food-lovers alike with her recommendation of Jonah Campbell’s Food and Trembling (Invisible Publishing 2011).

A mystery, some literary fiction, food essays–didn’t we say the Advent Book Blog was eclectic? There’s something here to satisfy anyone’s taste!
