Subversive scholar: Poet Pamela Mordecai schedules April university talks

Jamaican-Canadian poet and short story author Pamela MordecaiWith days getting longer and temperatures rising, it’s time to start dreaming of summer vacation–unless you’re Pamela Mordecai. The hard-working Subversive Sonnets (TSAR Publications, 2012) poet is heading back to school at a time when most scholars are setting aside their books until the fall.

On April 4th, Pam meets with third-year Wilfrid Laurier University English students to cap off classroom discussion of her collection of sonnets. She follows up this appearance with an April 11th visit to Brock University, where she’ll speak with Toronto poet laureate George Elliott Clarke. Further details of the latter talk, which is one of the public lectures in Brock’s Distinguished Speaker Series, will be posted once they’re available.
