The HSW Literary Agency

News

Celebrate the season in literary style with forthcoming HSWLA author appearances!

As 2012 draws to a close, HSW Literary Agency authors continue to be in demand!

Last week Girl In Shades author Allison Baggio helped Whitby Public Library patrons crack the mystery of the first novel by sharing the setbacks and successes she encountered on her path to publication. Following the success of Girl, Baggio published a second book, the short story collection In the Body (ECW Press 2012), which was just named to the National Post‘s list of the year’s “unjustly overlooked Canadian favourites.”

Readers can still look forward to joining Dr. Gretchen Roedde, author of the Globe & Mail-bestselling medical memoir A Doctor’s Quest (Dundurn 2012), as she continues her tireless campaign for maternal health care with a stop at Ottawa’s Perfect Books on Sunday, December 9, 2012. Dr. Roedde will sign books and join Charlie Angus, the member of Parliament for Timmins-James Bay, and Mariah Griffin, a human rights activist, to discuss mother-and-child health care in the developing world. The afternoon is guaranteed to be both provocative and informative!

Later still, Mary Lou Dickinson, author of One Day It Happens (Inanna Publications 2007) and Ile D’Or (Inanna Publications 2010), will help literature-loving Hamiltonians ring in the new year with a reading at Homegrown Hamilton in the Sky Dragon Centre. The only thing better than spending a wintery Sunday evening with a great book is spending a wintery Sunday evening with a great writer!
