Margaret Hart's vision has been guiding the HSW Literary Agency for over ten years. During this time, she has placed numerous titles of fiction, non-fiction, and young adult literature with large and small publishing houses.
Margaret has spent a lifetime working with books. She studied English Literature at the University of Toronto and taught English for many years before joining the HSW Literary Agency.
With a current client list of almost forty new and previously-published authors, Margaret deals directly with publishers in Canada, the U.S., and Britain, and with international publishers through sub-agents.
Every year, she attends international book shows in search of markets for her clients, including the London Book Fair. In addition, she regularly visits editors in New York.
Associate agent Natalie St. Pierre first joined the HSW Literary Agency in 2008 as an assistant, having completed a Master of Arts in Comparative Literature, Humber College’s post-graduate certificate program in Creative Book Publishing, and an editorial internship at McClelland & Stewart. Prior to moving to Toronto, Natalie worked for a busy independent bookseller.
Natalie is drawn to literary and up-market commercial fiction with a strong sense of time and place, and narrative non-fiction, especially travel memoir.
